In the mainstream watchmaking world, most brands manufacture their watches by the thousands… sometimes tens or even hundreds of thousands.

What happens to these pieces when they don’t find a buyer?

First, they are shipped to markets other than those initially intended. They cross continents, sometimes to the other side of the world, in the hope of being sold. If that doesn’t work, they are then sold off at bargain prices: massive clearance sales, grey-market second-hand sales, liquidation sales… And when all else fails, these watches are sent back to the manufacturer for parts recovery or, even more sadly, destroyed. Some will have travelled around the globe several times, at best in a degraded state, at worst with a catastrophic carbon footprint.

At RALF TECH, none of this happens. No overproduction. No devaluation. No waste. A different philosophy: produce just enough, produce well.

Our workshops are located in Losone, Switzerland (canton of Ticino), and Morteau, in the French Jura, two regions with a long history of watchmaking excellence.

WHEN QUALITY TAKES PRECEDENCE OVER QUANTITY

Let’s take the iconic example of THE BEAST MANUFACTURE AUTOMATIC.

Its movement is 100% French. All components are sourced within an 80 km radius of Morteau. The straps are handmade in Frasnois, also in the Doubs region.

Beyond French production, this is local production, rooted in the region. Watchmaking that preserves traditional expertise, values craftsmanship and guarantees a rare level of excellence.

THE IMPACT ON WATCH DESIGN AND ASSEMBLY

From design to final assembly, our watches travel very little. They are designed, manufactured and assembled as close as possible to their place of origin. They are then sent to an authorised retailer, mainly in France and sometimes in Europe, or directly to their final owner.

We only produce a limited number of pieces, and each one naturally finds its buyer. At RALF TECH, there is no waste, no excessive volumes, no inflated figures to satisfy industrial logic or flashy marketing.

We work in strict accordance with traditional craftsmanship. At RALF TECH, each piece is assembled in Switzerland or France, in workshops renowned for their expertise and high standards. Certified EPV (Entreprises du Patrimoine Vivant, or Living Heritage Companies), our partners embody the noblest aspects of watchmaking: masterful, rigorous assembly where nothing is left to chance.

As for our leather straps, they are cut, shaped and sewn by hand, in the purest tradition of French saddlers from the Doubs region. Every movement is precise and every finish bears the mark of the craftsman.
